Culture Change

Posted April 7th, 2011 in Culture & Leadership by William DeMarco

Culture is impacted greatly by the history, folklore, and values we inherit and are exposed to over a lifetime. They are constantly influenced by changing circumstances, but change very slowly. This is true for businesses as well as personal social networks.

The global village,  with its social media and instant video coverage of events, has the ability to significantly change  paradigms built up over decades, centuries, and even millennia.  For a powerful example of culture change in action, take a look at the following article about changing feelings about the Japanese people in China, post earthquake and tsunami. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/961843–in-china-awe-and-admiration-for-japan .

Thank you for the invitation to your new blog. Really enjoyed the article and your commentary on Asian culture. Learned something new again! It’s a pleasure to be in your class once more 😀
